The older I get, the more I realize how many shortcuts to self-awareness and confidence I could have taken, and it's a lot more work over 40. ok...50.
I'm writing them and creating a list for life to hopefully save others from taking so long to see these things,
and I suppose the first chapter will be
'Don't take advice from anyone who isn't directly affected if you take it.'
I've heard the worst advice from the most vocal and unqualified people.
From those with no physical ability or training, come the most critical views of my images of dance, strength and physical ability; Of course, we know full well, that those opinions are being voiced by people seeing their own inadequacy and failure, rather than the achievement that is before them.
It's a good life lesson-If we look at someone, something, some piece of art...and we have a revulsive reaction, look for the source within ourselves.
It's doubtful that what you're looking at is actually deserving of your derision.
It's far more likely that we are looking at something that we see as a personal limitation.
